Blood Components

Red blood cells
They are responsible for transporting oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the tissues.

WBCs
They deal with the body's defense against attack by bacteria , viruses, parasites and fungi.

Platelets or thrombocytes
They are responsible for the protection of blood vessels , forming a " platelet plug " to prevent bleeding at the site of injury and produce different substances that help the healing of wounds .

Plasma
It is the liquid part of the blood and is rich in proteins , including the most important : albumin , coagulation factors and immunoglobulins
